Recently volunteer personnel have been meeting to conduct training.  Soon volunteer personnel will be enrolled in certifcation classes but we must begin training them to be prepared for emergency responses.  St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 is preparing to put new personnel through first responder and firefighting classes.  Check out our photos for more on this story.

While this is not going physically impact our area in St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 and Pearl River, LA; the impact has already started on the air that we breath.  Respiratory sensative people with a medical history such as asthma and allergies may have minor impacts.  Check out our report for more information.
LOCAL IMPACTS LOW FROM OIL SPILL
On May 25, 2010 the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 volunteers held their first meeting declaring the volunteer program reinstated for our fire protection district.  At this meeting an election was held and Emmett Moore was elected President, Craig Revon was elected as Vice-President and Jamie Fontenot was elected as the Treasurer/Secretary.  The volunteer organization will be working hard to get the program fully functional.  As always, we are looking for hard working volunteer personnel, if you are interested, click here to apply.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM REINSTATED
June 26, 2010 Fire District 11 apparatus and personnel responded to I-59 on a truck that had its transmission and drive shaft literally fall from under the truck.  The damage threw pieces of the transmission and drive shaft onto the interstate damaging one vehicle and completely disabling the truck.  No one was hurt and a small amount of diesel fuel leaked but was quickly stopped and cleaned up.
TRUCK DAMAGE AND FUEL SPILL
June 26, 2010, Fire District 11 personnel placed into service two new pieces of equipment.  A blitz fire portable monitor and a special nozzle called a vindicator nozzle.  Check out our photos and video for more information on these pieces of equipment.
FIRE DISTRICT 11 INTRODUCES NEW TOOLS
FOLLOW US
At approximately 10am on July 9, 2010, fire district 11 responded mutual aid for fire district 7 on I-59 south of the Pearl River turn around for a vehicle accident with extrication.  One patient was transported to an area hospital and the other four patients were pronounced dead on the scene.  The Louisiana State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.  Click for more photos.
