Vehicle Crash on I-59
February 17, 2009, fire district 11 units responded to I-59 for a single vehicle motor vehicle crash.  One person was transported from the MVC.  At this time it appears that the driver lost control due to a medical condition and did not receive any life threatening physical injuries.

Louisiana's Safe Haven Law
BATON ROUGE - Louisiana Department of Social Services (DSS) officials reminded the public today that Louisiana's Safe Haven law gives new parents a chance to provide a safe environment for their unwanted newborn at any designated emergency care facility, hopefully preventing tragic events like the abandonment of a newborn in Kenner on Feb 10th.

The week beginning on February 9th  was designated as Severe Weather Awareness Week in both Louisiana and Mississippi.  The goal of the awareness week is to call the attention to the threats posed by these weather hazards and to review severe weather safety rules in the attempt to reduce the loss of life and injury.       more...



Abandoned Structure Fire
Thursday, January 15, 2009, fire district 11  The fire was under control within a half hour and extinguished within an hour.








Woods & Brush Fire
Thursday, January 15, 2009 fire district 11 units responded  to a woods and grass fire across from the Shell station on Hwy 1090.  The fire was contained to approximately 2 acres.









New Years Day Rollovers
On January 1, 2009, district 11 responded to two separate vehicle rollovers.  Occupants refused transport to a hospital.

Downed Power Lines plus Woods Fire
Engine 111, Engine 112, Medic 112 and other personnel responded to the area of Hwy 1090 and W. Porters River Rd. for a woods fire that resulted from a downed power line.  Crews working on the highway knocked down a power line which resulted in power outages, a woods fire and traffic.  The situation was placed under control within an hour and power was restored soon after.
