E.M.S. Week
St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 joins in celebrating Emergency Medical Services Week. The week celebrates E.M.S. workers, the work that they do as well as memorializing E.M.S. workers that have passed. Firefighter Needs Your Help
On June 1st, 2009, Nicholson fire medic and AMR ambulance medic Adam Brickeen had every family and firefighter’s worse nightmare come true. While he was on duty for AMR on the coast his home caught fire. The family lost everything they had due to the home being a total loss. Now this young father of five who works everyday to protect the public needs any help he can get.
Fatal I-59 Crash
5/22/09 - Evening, STFPD11 responded to I-59 automatic mutual aid with STFPD7 on a multi vehicle crash. Traffic heading southbound was backed up for miles for over an hour. Three vehicles were involved when a pickup truck crashed head on into another pickup truck and car. Two people were pronounced dead on scene and two others were transported for evaluation via ambulance. State police is handling the investigation.
Hurricane Preparedness
With the approach of the 2009 hurricane season, the week of May 24th through 30th has been designated as Hurricane Preparedness Week in Lousiana and now is the time for all residents of southeast Louisiana to begin their preparations for the 2009 hurricane season. Here are a few resources to help you and your family prepare.
Abandoned Car Fire
Pearl River, LA: Tuesday May 26, 2009 at 3:28am, Engine 112, Engine 111, Medic 112 & 1100 responded to Exit 5A under the overpass for a single vehicle, fully involved on fire. Engine 112 deployed an attack line off the front and personnel immediately extinguished the fire. Fire did not fully extend into the engine compartment but the vehicle was a total loss. It appears that the vehicle was left and set on fire and Pearl River police are investigating.
