Overturned 18 wheeler:
Wednesday, August 19, 2009: Pearl River, LA:  Around 4PM, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 units responded to I-59 southbound, south of Exit 3 for an 18 wheeler on its side.  The 18 wheeler was the only vehicle involved and was not hauling anything hazardous.  The truck was uprighted shortly after and no injuries resulted from the accident.

Early Morning Crash:
Monday, August 24, 2009: Pearl River, LA:  Around 5:25AM, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1, district 11, Acadian Ambulance and law enforcement units responded to I-59 northbound near mile marker 4 for a single vehicle crash into the woods.  Upon arrival, fire district 1 units found one person on the shoulder of the interstate and eventually a vehicle deep into the woods, heavily damaged with one patient inside.  Person in the vehicle was removed and both patients were transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.  Cause of the crash and injury information is not available at this time.

Congratulations Jack:
We are thrilled to announce that on Friday, September 11th, Captain Jack Dockery got married.  Jack and Jennifer said their vows in a small but beautiful ceremony in Picayune, MS.  We wish them well with a lifetime of love and happiness.




Pearl River Water Park:
On Saturday, September 19, 2009, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 was on hand to help celebrate the grand opening of Pearl River's newest attraction.  Located behind the Town Hall, there is a new water area for the kids to cool off when the heat is on.  Along with the Mayor, his wife, Town aldermen and woman along with many members of the community turned out as well for the grand opening.



Fire Prevention & Public Education:
Wednesday, October 7th & 8th St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 personnel made a visit to the Pre-K and Kindergarten students at Little Pearl Elementary School, Pearl Rivers brand new Elementary School.  We talked to over 150 students, teachers and faculty about fire safety including how to stop, drop and roll if your clothes catch on fire and how to safely exit your home if it is on fire.  The program ended with a show and tell of the fire truck and each student took home with them their own firefighter helmet and a bag with a coloring book, crayons, game and stickers.


Shed Fire:
Friday, October 9, 2009 at approximately 12:30pm St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 units responded to the 66000 block of St. Mary St. for a structure fire.  Units arrived to find a large storage shed fully involved with a vehicle inside on fire as well.  The fire was knocked down quickly and the situation was placed under control.  No building or people exposures where threatened during the fire.  Cause determined after further investigation to be accidental.
