Born and raised in the quiet and laid back eastern side of St. Tammany Parish, Trevor knew early on in his life that he wanted to help people. Trevor joined St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 in October of 2003 at 15 years old as a freshman at Northshore High School in Slidell. Trevor was impressed with the enthusiasm the firefighters showed and how exciting the training was that the firefighters go through. He knew that he wanted to eventually become a career firefighter.
Trevor stayed behind while thousands evacuated from the path of Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005. He rode the hurricane out at Station 111 on Pine Street Extension and says he, "will never forget how the citizens of Pearl River assisted the fire department and other public services to help clear roads and the homes of debris" he went on to say "this is the hardest work I have ever enjoyed doing". This thrill and excitement to help others pushed Trevor in his next task and direction in helping people.
At 18 years old, Trevor joined the Louisiana Army National Guard to help further his education as well as to continue serving the state of Louisiana and the United States. "I felt it was my duty" Trevor says. Trevor has been serving with the Guard since October of 2006 and is currently a E-4 specialist in the 239th MP Co. Det. 1 which is stationed at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans. Trevor served a 5 month tour on Task Force Gator during Operation Crescent Guard where he assisted the New Orleans Police Department as a patrol officer in 2007. This helped to supplement police coverage which the city of New Orleans has lacked since Hurricane Katrina. Trevor was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for serving in this operation. In 2008 Trevor was deployed to Houma, LA to assist with patrols during and after Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike which he was assigned out on patrols with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office. This deployment earned Trevor another Army Achievement Medal.
In the course of serving for the Louisiana Army National Guard so far, Trevor has been decorated with numerous awards. These are listed below.
National Defense Service Medal
Army Service Ribbon
3 separate Army Achievement Medals
Along with continuing to serve as a firefighter for St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 and the Louisiana Army National Guard, Trevor is currently enrolled at Delgado Community College with a major in Fire Science and Technology. He plans on graduating in the fall of next year. Trevor has received certifications as a Louisiana First Responder as well as a Response to Terrorism certification and VFIS defensive driving certificate with St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11. He is currently enrolled in courses such as Fire Strategies and Tactics, Hazardous Materials, Fire Protection Detection and Suppression Systems and Introduction to Fire Protection.
At 21 years old, Trevor continues to enjoy serving the community of Pearl River; including the surrounding area, and will continue to protect lives and property of the public. Once he graduates he plans on becoming a career firefighter and eventually would like to focus on fire inspections and investigations.
Trevor is just one but a prime example of the personnel we have serving at St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11. He serves St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 with pride and a continued willingness to proudly serve the citizens of Pearl River, LA.
